OUR
GOALS
CREATING A NEW HOPE FOR THOSE TRANSITIONING (AGING) OUT OF FOSTER CARE

WHAT IS
AGING OUT?
In respect to foster care, aging out is the process of a youth transitioning from the formal control of the foster care system towards independent living. More than 23,000 children will age out of the US foster care system every year. Depending on the state in which they live, young adults in foster care “age out” of the system at either 18 or 21. At this age, they are expected to move out and start their lives on their own. Many teens, some still in high school, find themselves in need of jobs, a place to live, and a means of transportation to survive.
